Parvin Shere has been honoured as a jury of the prestigious 109 years old Manitoba Society of Artists, Canada.

PARVIN SHERE  has been appointed as a jury of the prestigious Manitoba Society of Artists, Canada . The society was established in the year 1902 and the first annual exhibition was held in 1926. The main purpose of the society is to promote professional and visual artists.. From time to time members of this elite society exhibit social events and participate in educational ventures , such as lectures, slide presentations and workshops. The main hilight of the society every year is the “Annual Open Juried Competition” with hundreds of participants. In the year 2002 the Manitoba Society of Artists celebrated its 100th anniversary . It was a memorable event and work was displayed by current members followed by a commemorative banquet and art history conference. In 2012 , the Manitoba Society of Artists will celebrate its 110th anniversary.

The prestigious Sahir Academy Adeeb International Award ceremony was held on July 22nd, 2011 at the Holiday Inn Toronto, Canada . Dr. Kewal Dheer, chairman of Sahir Academy and the editor of reputable literary magazine “Adeeb” came from India to honour this memorable occasion . It was a classy event with 300 people in attendence. Sahir Academy Adeeb International Award has been established since 1978 and is an organization committed to literature, art and culture. This notable award is given to the person of eminence in recognition of their distinctly qualitative service and contribution in the field of language, literature, art and culture. The award was presented to Parvin Shere and Dr. Taqi Abedi by Prof. Gopichand Narang, advisor of Sahir Academy and the former President of Sahitya Akademi at the gala gathering . Sahir Ludhianvi’s portrait in oil done by Parvin Shere was presented to Sahir Academy on this occasion which was highly appreciated. The event was attended by a number of literary personalities and elite citizens of Canada. Sahir Ludhianvi’s poetry had a “Faizian” quality. Like Faiz Ahmed Faiz, he too gave Urdu poetry an intellectual element that caught the imagination of the youth of the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. Sahir’s poetry reflected the mood of the age. Sahir Ludhianvi was a visionary who dreamt of and worked for a better future of mankind. His message reaches thousands of hearts longing for freedom, justice, peace and love.

Prof. Yahya Nominated

AMU News 05 July 2011: Prof . H.S.A. Yahya has been nominated as a member of  Working Group of the Planning Commission on Higher Education. He is a scientist in Wildlife science and hails from the department Of Wildlife Sciences, AMU Aligarh. The commission has nominated him as a member for the formulation of XII five year plan 2012 – 2017.

Prof. Wasim Ahmad Awarded For Outstanding Contribution To Animal Taxonomy

Prof. Wasim Ahmad has been conferred upon, the prestigious EK Janki Ammal award for outstanding contribution to Animal taxonomy. He was honoured in a grand function at New Delhi.  Hon’ble Minister Of Environment And Forest Mr. Jairam Ramesh presented him with a Medallion, a scroll, a citation and a cash prize of INR 1,00,000.

Prof. Wasim Ahmad, Department of Zoology, Aligarh Muslim University Recieving E.K. Janaki Ammal National Award From Mr. Jairam Ramesh, Hon’ble Minister of Environment and Forest, Government of India and Mr. Achim Steiner, UN Undersecretary General and Executive Director, United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The award carries a medallion, a scroll, a citation and a cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000/-.

Prof. Wasim is from the Department of Zoology, AMU Aligarh and dons numerous titles to his credit. He is one of those rare scientist who have the honour of entire Genus of namatodes named after them. The dedication of genus  Wasimella enigmatus to his name, speaks of his quality contribution to the nematode world. Several other new species have been dedicated in his name, Laimydorus wasimi, Mylonchulus wasimi, Helicotylenchus wasimi, Aporcelaimellus ahmadi etc.

He has visited many countries as an expert of nematode taxonomy and is recipient of prestigious visiting fellowships from Royal Society, London (UK),  Dutches Forschungsgemeinschaft (Germany), Japanese Society for Promotion of Science (Japan), Erasmus Mundus Scholar (European Union), Chinese Academy of Sciences (China), Third World Academy of Science (Italy), Korean Science Foundation (Korea), Raffles Museum Visiting Fellowship (Singapore), Institute Nacional de Biodiversidad (Costa Rica) etc.,
